Breadvan_update_007: Ideation sketches of the Breadvan Hommage

Contemporary design being put on paper

We’re showing the very first ideation sketches of the project. These are the initial ideas being put on paper. It is a great privilege to work on this Hommage commission. Furthermore, the task to translate the essence of the legendary original into a contemporary design is a very interesting one. The base car for the dream project is historically significant. Moreover it is conceptually an exceptional match for our conversion. So whilst we will remodel the complete body, we have decided to also honour this base vehicle. Our design will take important cues from the base car’s proportions, surfacing and jewellery. In addition to this it will enhancesome features, whilst changing others.

Gentleman racer looks

Our intention is to use a modern aesthetic – boasting its very own timeless character. The design will feature soft, gentleman racer looks. Meanwhile the design reinterprets the classic original most important elements. Breadvan Hommage will be a respectful yet un-nostalgic homage to the past. The team is confident this coachbuilt motorcar will be a great addition to the garage of the patron.

Defining interesting new character

These sketches not only show the search for the right proportions and outline, but experiment on an interesting application of the graphical elements. Amongst these graphics are the windows, air intakes on front fender, side panel and rear fender. They are all equally important. These graphics made the original car stand out and could define interesting new character for our Breadvan Hommage. Last but not least the rake of the iconic rear end of the Breadvan has to be modernised. We will translate the unique looks of this design icon into a more sculptural expression. We will show more design sketches next week, please join us next Friday for Breadvan_update_008!
