Unveiling of the coachbuilding process and name of the Niels van Roij Design flat twelve targa

This exceptional creation represents the pinnacle of individualized automotive design.

ENGINEERING AND DESIGN

Derived from a classic and renowned platform, this mid-rear-engined flat twelve sportscar will keep its distinguished layout and engine. However, a comprehensive overhaul of the to be coachbuilt chassis is being undertaken at this point, marking a significant advancement in its stiffness post conversion.

Niels van Roij:

“The ambitious coachbuilding project entails a complete reimagining of the chassis, with specific attention to rigidity. Key enhancements include the implementation of stiffer B-pillars, reinforced areas surrounding the radiators, and the addition of strengthening boxes to the main chassis members running across the length of the donor car.”

Furthermore, a strategic strengthening of the door openings, along with the installation of cross-member beams across the centrally located fuel tank, ensures structural integrity of the tailor-made supercar. A diagonal unit will be discreetly housed within the original center stack, to reinforce the chassis further.

The original sill skins will be temporarily removed, to gain access to the space underneath. Robust oval members enclosed in reinforced boxes will be placed inside, offering enhanced strength to ensure great driving characteristics of the coachbuilding project. Inside the A-pillar, a unit further bolsters the chassis, optimizing rigidity. Behind the dashboard and A-pillar, a triangular connection between the floor, A-pillar, front firewall and sill enhances stability and resilience, while more strengthening members beneath the firewall ensures high lateral strength.

COACHBUILT TARGA CONVERSION

Niels van Roij Design also unveils the name of this coachbuilding project: Guida Touring Sport.

Guida Touring Sport joins the esteemed ranks of exclusive vehicles tailored to the unique desires of Niels van Roij Design clients: Silver Spectre Shooting Brake based on Rolls-Royce underpinnings, Adventum Coupe designed on Range Rover chassis, Model SB coachbuilt on a Tesla Model S and the bold Breadvan Hommage – like Guida Touring Sport constructed on Italian chassis.

Guida Touring Sport was named to honor the roots of the iconic donor vehicle and the way the converted car will be celebrated for its open air excellence. The abbreviation of the name holds additional significance for its meaning in the automotive world of spiders and targa bodied cars.
