Car designer on Breadvan Hommage
Renowned for his innovative designs like the two-door Range Rover and the Rolls-Royce Shooting Brake, esteemed car designer Niels van Roij has been tasked with the creation of a singular homage to the Ferrari 250GT “Breadvan.” This special commission involves designing and overseeing the coachbuilding of this unique vehicle.
Breadvan became iconic racing car
The original “Breadvan” was a reimagined Ferrari 250GT, created to rival the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO in races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans and other FIA World Sportscar Championship events. Although it had a brief racing career of just three years, the “Breadvan” became an iconic racing car, celebrated for its distinctive aerodynamic design. It earned a legendary status in the motorsports world and frequently appeared at historic racing events in the 1970s.
Front-engine V12 donor car
For this modern homage, Niels van Roij Design and our client selected a Ferrari 550 Maranello, a front-engine V12 model, as the base. The aim was not to replicate the original but to honor and draw inspiration from this significant moment in Ferrari’s history.
