The Ferrari ‘Breadvan’ Reimagined: Niels van Roij Design’s Modern Tribute
Niels van Roij Design, a renowned Netherlands-based design studio, has unveiled its latest masterpiece: the ‘Breadvan Hommage’. This modern reinterpretation of the legendary 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Breadvan is a singular creation, custom-built for a private collector.
Classic Meets Contemporary
At the heart of the Breadvan Hommage is the Ferrari 550 Maranello, retaining its original front-engine, rear-drive layout, six-speed manual transaxle, and powerful 478bhp 5.5-litre V12 engine. While the mechanical foundation remains largely unchanged, notable modifications include a raised gated shifter and the installation of adjustable Koni shock absorbers, paying tribute to the components used in the original 1960s racer.
A Redesigned Exterior
The exterior transformation is where the Breadvan Hommage truly shines. Apart from the windscreen, every body panel has been meticulously crafted from hand-beaten aluminum. The flat roofline extends seamlessly to a sharply truncated Kamm tail, an aerodynamic design that minimizes turbulence and mirrors the original Breadvan’s iconic silhouette. Additional nods to the classic include front wing vents, stacked circular tail lights, and pronounced rear haunches.
