COACHBUILD BREADVAN

Coachbuilder Niels van Roij Design

Among recent coachbuilders, Niels van Roij Design has gained prominence for his bespoke shooting brakes. A Royal College of Art graduate, van Roij first made a name for his company by creating unique shooting brakes from the Tesla Model S and Rolls-Royce Wraith. He later designed the Adventum Coupé, a sleek two-door variant of the four-door Range Rover. All cars to be found on our website.

Breadvan Hommage

One of our more recent projects involves modifying a Ferrari 550 Maranello to recall the legendary 250 GT Breadvan. Converting one of Ferrari’s modern masterpieces into a shooting brake.

The classic Breadvan’s story

In the early 1960s, Enzo Ferrari clashed with customer Count Giovanni Volpi di Misurata, who operated race cars under the Scuderia Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia banner, and canceled his order for two 250 GTOs. In retaliation, Volpi redesigned a 250 GT SWB with enhanced mechanics and more aerodynamic bodywork by Drogo. This distinctive shape, developed for higher speeds, earned the nickname “Breadvan.” After a brief racing career, Volpi drove the car on the streets for a few years before selling it.
